Why the 2021 APAC Search Awards Mean so Much!

Rocket Agency, from Sydney Australia picked up two campaign focused awards and Best Small Integrated Agency at the APAC Search Awards.

Rocket Agency has won plenty of digital marketing awards in the past, but they found something extra special at the APAC Search Awards. Here is what they have to say…

“While winning any sort of award is gratifying, it’s extra satisfying when you’re a relatively small-ish independent agency competing against well-established agencies boasting big-name clients (with big budgets) operating in the world’s fastest-growing economic region. To be not only winning Search Awards, but also having judges make comments such as, “We love the ethos of this company. They have represented their agency well from the perspective of the client, staff and industry,” is something Rocket’s founders only aspired to when they opened their doors back in 2006.”

After the many challenges of 2020, there was considerable excitement among Rocket staff when the virtual awards ceremony kicked off at 9 pm, Sydney time on January 21.

Ally Lester, a Rocket team member, recalls sitting in her pyjamas frantically texting co-workers as the night unfolded. Neighbours heard cheers as Rocket kept winning awards. “Even if we didn’t make it to Singapore physically,” she says, “there was something special about the team sitting in our lounge rooms late at night, gripping our laptops and wine glasses, watching Rocket be recognised for our work from 6000 kilometres away.”

As was the case with the rest of the Rocket team, Garry Viner, Rocket’s Co-founder and Head of Search was particularly moved by the agency as a whole being acknowledged. “Of course, being recognised for a particularly innovative or effective campaign you’ve created is lovely. But it takes things to a whole other level when you’re recognised not just as an agency that’s capable of creating great campaigns but as a great agency overall. My partners and I have been obsessed since Day One with creating a respectful and results-focused culture at Rocket. To see We Are Search, a global body validating the worth of that culture is incredible.”

James Lawrence, another of Rocket’s co-founders, was proud be nominated as a finalist in five categories ( Best Small Integrated Search Agency, Best Integrated Campaign, Best Local Campaign, Best Use of Search – B2C and Best Use of Search – Real Estate & Property). “When it comes to the Search Awards, you’re competing against some of the world’s best agencies doing some of the best digital work for some of the world’s most iconic brands,” he says. “For a reasonably small Australian agency like Rocket to be short-listed was an incredible accomplishment for our staff and clients. To then go on to take out three of the five categories we were competing in was way beyond my expectations and a recognition of the high-level of digital work being done in Australia and also what an amazing job we have here at Rocket.”

We Are Search are proud deliver Awards around the world that are respected and celebrated and stories like Rocket’s go to prove we are getting it right. Rocket Agency will be back defending their titles in 2022 and we cannot wait to see what they have been up to.
